Planed Cedar Timber:
Both the planed and sawn timber from Woodubuy.com is normally kiln dried. If you wish to have air dried Cedar planed timber please contact us before ordering. Air dried Cedar timber is normally used for exterior and cladding applications.
Cedar has a lovely appearance when newly cut, many describe the heartwood as having a salmon pink to a darkish brown appearance. Over a period of time Cedar changes its appearance and the timber colour often appears red or brown and eventually fishing with a classic silver-grey appearance.
Planed western read Cedar is known to weather well but sometimes can suffer from insects and parasites when growing. Cedar can be successfully left to naturally weather. It is a very common external cladding timber.
Western Red Cedar is ideal for use with hand tools and offers a fine planed timber finish. Cedar only has a minor blemishing effect on the cutting edges. It can be split easily due to the straight grain.
Cedar is a popular timber for architects due to the mature finish it achieves over time, you will often see it as a stunning Silver Gray timber on many modern buildings.

Durability Notes:
Western red Cedar weathers very well. It can, however, suffer from attack from the western cedar borer when growing, and the common furniture beetle when seasoned. It is challenging to treat with preservatives but can be succesfully left to naturally weather. It is a very common external cladding timber.

Guitar parts, ship and boat building, roofing shingles, exterior cladding (siding), beehives, sheds and greenhouses, and decorative veneer.

Almost all of our timber, both sawn and planed, will be ready for dispatch within 5-10 days, often sooner, depending on material availability.
On checkout you will be given an estimated time frame for production and delivery of your timber order.
We deliver timber across the UK to commercial and residential addresses.
