Sawn Utile Timber:
Utile sawn timber is commonly used for external joinery such as windows. Although a hard timber to work with the results can be stunning.
It should be noted that in Utile timber, stress fractures' can be present, but is a nice timber to work with.
Typical uses for Utile timber include Furniture and cabinetmaking, kitchen cabinets, office furniture, and window frames. Utile is also sliced for decorative veneers and rotary-cut for plywood.
When cutting Utile timber its recommended to use a cutting angle of 15 degrees which will reduce the tendency for the interlocked grain to tear during planning and moulding.

This wood is for external applications (can be used internally if needed).
Utile is a dense wood with a high crushing strength, medium bending strength, low stiffness and resistance to shock loads and a poor steam-bending rating. It works well with machine and hand tools and has a tolerable blunting effect on cutters and tools. Utile saws, glues, turns, mortices, carves, nails, screws and stains well. The wood can be brought to an excellent polished finish, once grain filled.
